Lets first understand what suited connector means: it is a hand with consecutive cards of the same suit. A 4s with a 5s, for example, is a suited connector.  High value cards like Aks and KQs are usually not called ‘suited connectors’ given their strength. Suited connectors are good things to have as they generally do well, especially when the pot is big. Playing a 76s, for example, will mean that you are looking forward to a big flop, catching a flush or straight. You can even fish for a two pair or trips, but still it won’t be worth to push you into a calling.

Winning through top or middle pairs is possible, but they will hardly make their way to tamper competition. If you believe that you’ve got the chance to hit a flop, then use it. Of course, as usual, being in a late position is better as you get the chance to know what others are doing before launching yourself. Comparatively a limit game offers more prospects to a suited connector than a no-limit game. In a no-limit game the raise of a preflop is often too large to allow a suited connector a look at the flop. Besides, in a preflop raise during a no-limit game, there would normally be 2 to 3 persons active. So using a 4s5s is not cautioned here.

As in every game, there are exceptions. Lets consider this fact and move forward. Getting a right price, you can use suited connectors to play out the blinds. Well, remember however, that a 4s5s would not be appropriate for a heads up, you would instead go for something like the Q4 than 6s or 7s if you are moving heads up to the river. Some pros, most often in tournament, would use the suited connectors just to hunt for some luck to double through. Actually, getting a flush and straight takes a good dose of luck and a big flop. 

Seriously if, you are seen as a tight player and getting no calls. You can rise with something like the 8s9s in a late position.  This is good in a no-limit game. In a limit holdem you have more choices, since you are not putting large bets and there are more than one opponent alive! This is not a statement to say that winning with suited connectors is easier in limit holdem than in no-limit holdem, we are just saying here that they can be more payable.
