Texas Hold-em Rules
Online gambling is a booming industry. Lots of money can be won playing poker games on the internet. However, whoever you are and whatever you do, it is important to know the rules of Texas hold-em if you intend to play and win any prize money!
You will find that the rules of Texas hold’em are not complicated, but straight forward. When playing hold’em, each of the players are first dealt two cards face down. Then using their two pocket or hole cards and their five community cards, these players will try to make the best five card poker hand.
First, a round of preflop betting takes place with three board cards being turned simultaneously after which another round of betting occurs. Then the player who is seated to the right of the dealer has to put up the small blind while the player to the left of the small blind gives the big blind. The amount placed as the big blind is twice the amount of the small blind. However, in limit hold’em, the big blind equals the small limit and the small blind is in turn half that figure.
Players can check, raise or fold during the betting round and when this is over, the dealer discards, or burns the card that is at the top of the deck. Then, the dealer flips the next three cards of the deck face up. This is called flop in hold’em where these three community cards can be used by anyone with their poker cards to create a poker hand. Once this flop is over, the next round of betting starts with the player on the left of the dealer. After this betting round, the dealer discards the top card again to flip an additional ‘turn’ card open. With this, there will be four community cards on the table wherein yet another round of betting takes place.
Then again, the dealer burns another card to flip over the ‘river’ card. This is the fifth and final community card, and the last card that the players can use to use in their five card poker hand. With this, the final round of betting takes place, and it is again the player sitting on the left of the dealer who starts the betting. On the completion of the last round of betting, the players left still playing their hands have to reveal their cards. It is the player on the left of the last player who had made a call that has to first show their hand. Then it is the player with the best combination of both pocket and community cards that wins the hand in the final ‘showdown’ of Texas hold’em.
So it can be seen that the rules to Texas hold’em are relatively easy. However, it is not only having knowledge of Texas hold em rules that helps you win in the game. It is the amount of practice you have by playing as many rounds of Texas hold’em that ensures a win in poker!
