Sportsbook Poker.com Review

Sportsbook Poker is a newcomer in the world of online poker.  Previously, Sportsbook.com was affiliated with Paradise Poker, but due to liquidation and the U.S. Legislation they shed the partnership almost a year ago.  Now, they're back on the scene with their own newly branded poker room.   

Game Selection

The game selection at Sportsbook.com Poker runs the standard fare of games – you have Texas Hold'em, Omaha, and 7 Card Stud.   They also offer Omaha Hi-Lo and 7 Card Stud Hi-Lo.  Within each different game selection, obviously, there are choices for no-limit, fixed limit, and pot limit. 

The tournament selection is easily accessed with a tournament button on the top of the screen.  Inside, you can select tournaments based on cash, satellites, sit-n-goes, special events, free-rolls, and more.  The largest tournament available at this time features a $200 buy-in, so if you're interested in more substantial limits and returns; this may not be the site for you.  Otherwise, there are tournaments offered routinely at a variety of stakes and game types.  

Cashier

The cashier section at Sportsbook.com/Poker is linked to your existing sportsbook.com account, if you have one.  They are currently revamping their deposit selections and currently only seem to accept Visa/Mastercard with an independent payment processor or online EFT banking transacations. 

Withdrawals are limited to mailed check, EFT/online bank account transaction, or an unspecified independent payment processor. 

Graphics / Layout 

The graphics at Sportsbook.com Poker are above average.  The table is clean and crisp, and has easy to follow actions.  You can select from an assortment of lifelike avatars to represent yourself, many looking almost like actual photographs.  The other options available are found in most other rooms as well – four color deck, the ability to auto muck, auto-posting of blinds, etc etc.  Nothing seems to be missing, but nothing substantial has been added either.   

Sportsbook.com Poker offers hand histories stored on your local computer in a user-specified path, which is handy for reviewing plays or running statistical software on your actions.   

Traffic

Despite Sportsbook.com having a large user base, there isn't too much traffic currently at the poker room.  Finding a Texas Hold'em game is easy at lower limits, and there are occasionally 1 or 2 full tables at $10/$20 and higher.  The highest ring game I saw anyone playing was $30/$60 fixed limit Hold'em.   Omaha hardly any players and in fact, 7 Card Stud and 7 Card Stud Hi-Lo is currently disabled due to a lack of players.  

One thing to look out for and remember – most of these players are Sportsbook.com users, hence gamblers.  They are likely to wager large sums of money at lower stakes (20x BB raises at $.50/$1) and also take large chances on hands with small odds.  That's not to say there aren't experienced players among them, its just the fact that most of those we noticed seemed to like to 'take chances'. 

Special Features/Promotions

Currently, Sportsbook Poker is running a 'Gold Card' promotion.  Either or both of the hole cards dealt to you could turn into a Gold Card at the end of the hand.  When they do, you submit them to a daily Gold Card Lottery on the site and you could win some pretty interesting prizes.
