US Gambling Legislation
There are two groups that are fighting to legalize online poker and they are the Poker Players Alliance and the APCW. Both groups are pushing for congress to pass laws that would legalize and tax the industry bringing much needed tax relief to the United States. In the last year there have been many bills introduced in congress by Barney Frank and other politicans that would do just that.
US Gamblign Bills Introduced
H.R. 2046, the "Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act” - Barney Frank
H.R. 2610, the "Skill Games Protection Act" - Robert Wexler
H.R. 2140 “Internet Gambling Study Act” - Shelley Berkley
H.R. 2607 “Internet Gambling Regulation and Tax Enforcement Act of 2007 ” - Congressman McDermott
Right now online poker is in a legal gray area where in a lot of states there are no laws in the books that legalize or make it illegal to gamble online. I am not a lawyer and I cannot tell you if it is legal in your state but it is important to find out if there are any regulations in your home state.
