iconDaniel Negreanu – A Born Poker Player

Daniel Negreanu perhaps knew from a young age that his dream was to become a world class poker player.   A mere credit short of graduation, he decided to drop out of high school and began his chosen career by playing at the local charity casinos and looking for the occasional illegal game around the city of Toronto.  Once his bankroll was large enough at 21, Daniel Negreanu left for Las Vegas in the hopes of becoming a professional poker player.  Like many before him, Las Vegas got the better of him, and he returned to Toronto to prepare for the next attempt.

In 1997, Daniel Negreanu’s luck began to change for the better.  He won two events at the World Poker Finals at Foxwoods, earning him over $133,000 dollars, and the honor of being named the tournament’s best all-around player.  Not to be out done, Daniel Negreanu followed this feat with a win in the 1998 World Series of Poker and netting a cool $169,460, and becoming the youngest WSOP bracelet winner in history – a record he held until 2004.

Within the following years, Daniel Negreanu became one of the most successful poker tournament players to ever play the game, winning two World Poker Tour events, and two more World Series bracelets, and appearing at eleven final tables.  In 2004 he also was named the World Series Poker player of the year.  In fact, upon opening the Wynn Las Vegas resort recruited Daniel Negreanu as their Poker Ambassador, to play for any stake at their poker room.  The arrangement lasted until October of 2005, when he decided to pursue other interests.

In December of 2005, Daniel Negreanu started his own online poker card room site on his official webpage, of Full Contact Poker, which also includes his blogs and a number of poker forums, designed for both the beginning and more seasoned players.

David Negreanu is known throughout the poker playing circuit for his uncanny ability to read other players.  His ability to gather information about his opponent’s hand by studying their mannerisms and betting habits are hard to match, let alone surpass.  He has written a number of articles for Card Player Magazine, as well as tutored on the web as part of Poker School Online.  In fact, well known celebrities like Tobey Maguire have learned from his skilled teaching.  To top it off, in early 2006 Daniel Negreanu had assembled a team of poker superstars to write a book concerning the hold’em strategy that had served him so well over the years.

With his fun outlook, skill and laid back appearance, Daniel Negreanu is perhaps one of the most enjoyable players to watch in the game today.
