Carbon Poker Review
Overview:
Carbon Poker is the first poker room skin using the Poker.com software. The MergeGaming network has developed their own software from the ground up and are the flagship brand of the MergeGaming network. The development and design process culminated at the beginning of last year as they launched an outstanding online poker room. As a young player in the market, they have a lot of ground to cover, but seem to have set their sights squarely on being a contender.
Traffic:
Carbon Poker has a a very attractive and easy to use software, the amount of players at Carbon Poker is relatively small. At peak hours, there are about 1500 cash ring game players, and at off hours there are around 1000 players. However, they are rapidly expanding and attracting new customers and clientele all the time.
Tournaments:
The tournament traffic, like any site, is greater than the cash game traffic. Carbon Poker is known for lucrative guaranteed tournaments, along with frequent freerolls and speciality tournaments. They also offer sit-n-goes and heads up matches. Expect about 1,000-1,500 players on a consistent basis playing tournaments at Carbon Poker.net
Software:
The software used at Carbon Poker is very unique and attractive, especially for stand-alone custom built software. Graphically, it is very eye-pleasing, while not being too overbearing with icons and eye candy.
The lobby layout is absolutely stellar, allowing you to quickly and easily find a cash game or tournament with the tabbed browsers at the top of the screen. You can also easily check the cashier status, and view everything you may need, including your coupon entries into various free tournaments and promotions.
The software displays detailed statistics, features a note-taking ability, shows instant hand histories, your number of wins, the average pot size of a table, and hands per hour. You can also tag players with small icons to alert you to their style of play – a fish for a poor player, a shark for a good one, and a few other types as well. This feature lets you quickly size up an old opponent without having to refer to your notes if you don’t have time. You are also given the option to use an avatar, whether it be custom or one of the pre-defined ones.
The software itself has a lot of unique features as well. For instance, each player earns stars based on their level of play and length of play time and rake generated for the site. You can also earn what are known as accolades, or icons showcasing your accomplishments on the site. For instance, if you won a $1,000 freeroll, you would be awarded an accolade ribbon detailing this, which you can choose to display under your name and avatar. If you have multiple accolades, you can choose which one to be displayed, but all will be shown when a user double clicks on your name.
Among the other useful features is the ability to show one or both cards when you fold, and also the ability to ‘rabbit’ the deck when your opponents fold. When you click the ‘rabbit’ button, the hand is dealt out as it would be, just to show the potential outcome, had the other players not folded.
Competition:
The competition at Carbon Poker is relatively soft. However, with their attractive software, freerolls, and promotions; a few sharks have been showing up. Still, if you look at and play tables with the flop percentages in the 50%+ range, you should be able to turn quite a profit.
Security:
Carbon Poker is regulated and governed by the Kahnawake Online Gaming Commission, and they are operationally based out of Canada, with servers and offices elsewhere in the world as well, including Australia where their customer support center is located.
They use 128-bit security provided by Thawte security, a leader in the encryption and data security industry.
Support:
For support, Carbon Poker offers a very detailed FAQ section on their website, along with a dedicated customer support site at Pokercs.com. The staff is friendly and helpful, and has detailed knowledge in many areas; allowing them to quickly resolve issues and get you playing again.
Deposits/Withdrawal:
For deposits, you can use the following methods: Visa, Mastercard, Neteller, Citadel, and Click2Pay. Click2Pay is their preferred provider and you will typically receive a 10% bonus for using this method of deposit.
Withdrawals are available via Neteller (instant cashouts), Citadel, and Click2Pay; with no withdrawal fees at all.
Summary
Carbon Poker and the MergeGaming network , while relatively new, has a bright future ahead of it. With more players coming on board everyday and the software being continuously enhanced, it won’t be long before Carbon Poker is a true leader in the internet poker market.
