A big part of Texas Hold-em Poker is knowing when and how to bluff . It is, without doubt, the heart of the game. As a poker player, nothing is worst than being a predictable parrot whose bluffs are discovered at all times.

If you make yourself a reputation of playing and betting only with strong cards, then you are embarking on a losing money expedition. Bluffing on a poker table is inevitable if you are there to make money. If you're not there for money, quit poker NOW.

Bluffing is not only a matter of 'pretending' to be strong when you aren't. To be successful in this venture, several other factors have to be taken into consideration. Now we are going to dig deeper and comment on the best bluffing practices.

You as a player. It's useful to know how you are perceived by your opponents. If you are someone loose on the game, playing just any hands, then your bluff has no real impact. On the other hand, if you are tagged as playing only when it's worth, a one-off bluff might be a killer move. Needless to say, if your bluff are often discovered, you'll be recognized as a real joker, and bluffs will only remain plain bluffs.

How you read others. Your ability to evaluate situations will obviously guide you to the best bluffing exercise. If you know the playing patterns and habits of opponents you face, you know their reactions you will easily work your bluffs.

Type of opponents is also an important element to consider before bluffing. Why? Simple reason: bad players will usually work you up in a bluff attempt. They are just too curious to know your cards and will call any bets you make. A paradox: don't bluff against bad players. Good players will fold bad cards, even if yours are worse, but you stand practically no chance against a bad player.

Number of opponents. This is a basic element to take into consideration when bluffing. Fooling a whole bunch of players can be a difficult enterprise. Bluffing is at its best when the number of opponent involved is small, ideally a two to tango drill. More players increase the chance that a good hand in on the table to outwit you. More people also mean larger pot which will be attractive enough to make others stay on the bandwagon and fight their cases.

Pot size. As we just mentioned, the size of the pot is the thing which will glue your opponents to the game. The higher the stake, the stronger the fighting spirit will be. Bluffing at this time may cost you a lot as challenges will rain on you. If you know the business you can take the risk of bluffing, and who knows, it might bring the large pot to you…. But then again, who knows?

For bluffing to be effective, you’ve got to learn the habits of your opponents, that’s for sure. Some of them will also bluff, some not. Who is doing what, when and how is what you’ve got to observe. If you figure out a chronic bluffer, you can call as long as you know that you have a fair hand. Chances that he has no worth cards are big.

To be a good poker player, you don’t have to stand on any of the two extremes of bluffing which are defined parameters like: frequent and never. Frequent bluffers are simply bluffers whilst those who don’t bluff are not poker players. The trick lies in letting your opponents drown in doubting whether your acts are simply bluffs or do they have a real base behind.. The right dose at the right time, just like a good medicine will do the work for you, overdose will kill you, while under dosage won’t cure the disease.
