WSOP Gossip - Where’s Vinny Vinh?

June 22, 2007 on 3:50 pm | In WSOP, Poker News |

That’s the question on everyone’s lips at the Rio, it seems. After making strong runs in Day One of both Event #8 and Event #30, Vinh did not show up to play on Day Two of either event. Vinh finished the first day of play in Event #8 as the chipleader, but never showed up to continue his run toward a bracelet. His empty chair in Event #30 lasted all the way to 22nd place for a $12,000+ payday. His chair finished 20th in Event #8. Rumors of Vinh’s problems have ranged from drug abuse to loan sharks, but no real news on his whereabouts has surfaced.

In other less-than-stellar WSOP News, Paul “Eskimo” Clark finished fourth in the $1,500 Razz event less than a week after collapsing in the tent set up for additional tables during the $2,000 Stud Hi-Lo event. While this would ordinarily be a heart-warming, fuzzy story, it tends a little darker when we realize that Clark had to receive medical attention at the table twice during the Razz event, and is putting his physical well-being in jeopardy by refusing to accept medical help and stop playing for a couple of weeks to recuperate. Rumors have Clark being very deep in debt, with playing his way out the only potential method of repaying his debts.

We all hope that Vinh and Clark will come out of their problems ok.
