Phil Hellmuth wins 11th World Series of Poker Bracelet
June 12, 2007 on 6:19 pm | In WSOP, Poker News |When the World Series of Poker began this month, there were 3 players tied for the most bracelets - Johnny Chan, Doyle Brunson and Phil Hellmuth. It didn’t take long for the Phil “Poker Brat” Hellmuth to rise above his competition, capturing his 11th bracelet in the $1,500 No Limit Hold ‘Em event this weekend at the Rio in Las Vegas.
Hellmuth’s first bracelet was ironically his biggest, his Main Event win in 1989, and he has followed that with ten other victories in Hold ‘Em events, leading none other than “Texas Dolly” Doyle Brunson to call him the best tournament Hold ‘Em player in history, high praise from the living legend of poker himself. Hellmuth is well known for his tournament antics, throwing chairs, abusing other players and launching profanity-laden tirades after receiving bad beats, but he is undeniably one of the most successful Hold ‘Em tournament players in history, right there with Chan, Brunson and the legendary Stu Ungar.
