Poker Players Denied by Judge in WPT Case

June 1, 2007 on 8:07 pm | In WPT, Poker News |

Professional poker players Chris Ferguson, Andrew Bloch, Annie Duke, Joseph Hachem, Phil Gordon, Howard Lederer, and Greg Raymer filed a lawsuit against the World Poker Tour claiming that the WPT violated the Sherman Antitrust Act. They are claiming that the release forms that players have to sign are anti-competitive and violate contracts that they have signed with sponsors. Recently they were denied the motion for summary judgment which they had asked for when they filed a reply briefing to the WPTE’s Opposition to Plaintiffs Motion. It looks like the players will have to keep fighting this and will not get a quick judgment for the case.
