Hawaiian Garden Los Angeles Casino

Today, I went to the Hawaiian Gardens Casino in Los Angeles. I didn’t know what to expect as it was close to where I was staying and a friend recommended it as a good place to play poker. When I pulled up to the casino it looked like it was in a semi-permanent tent structure which reminded me of an enclosed area for an indoor swimming pool.

When I walked inside it had flat screen monitors and 115 tables. Most of them where poker but they also has Pai-Gow, Stud and many other poker variations. They had varying limits from 1-2 limit to VIP poker section where were 2 high limit poker games being played. I was surprised to see so many poker tables as I had expected there would be a lot but this was much bigger then any vegas card room.

I sat down and there were roaming chip staff who easily turned my cash into chips and vise versa. It seemed like there were lots of locals as the table chatter was friendlily and professional as if this was another day at the office for them. They allowed players to eat at the poker table and many of the players took advantage as I saw numerous players at the table order huge lunches.

I ended the day down $38 down but came out a winner in that I had 3 flush’s during my time there and two were cracked by full houses, I lost pocket aces and only won a handful of hands. Overall my experience was a good one and I have a feeling if I am in Long Beach again I may have to make a stop.
