Poker tourney helps family

Poker isn’t just all gambling. Playing poker can actually be a good deed too.

Vernique Montoya, daughter of former Councilman of Surprise City Johnny Montoya, will be happy to hear that. At the young age of 12 years old, Vernique Montoya was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease. Just this January, doctors declared that she had end stage renal failure. She has had to rely on a dialysis machine ever since. Although her father will be donating his own kidney and insurance will cover most of their medical expenses, the bills just keep on piling up.

Councilman Doc Sullivan decided to do something about it. He has arranged a poker tournament to be held on August 12 for the benefit of the Vernique Montoya. The poker tournament will raise money for the Montoya family to help pay for their medical expenses.

The Texas Hold ’Em poker tournament will be held at the Cigar Box and the Scoreboard Restaurant in
Arizona. There will be 32 players in each location and the final 4 from each location will compete for first place at the Scoreboard Restaurant. All players donate $50 each and all proceeds will go to the Montoya family.
