Online Poker Players making a living on the Internet

The new stars of poker are young, aggressive, and would really much rather play poker on a computer.

Just ask 22-year old Hevad “RaINKhAN” Khan, who plays as many as 26 online poker tables simultaneously. Khan prefers online over live poker games because according to him, internet players aren’t that good to begin with. That means that he has more chances of winning. Khan is set to play in the upcoming World Series of Poker (WSP) which he prepared for by playing online for 2 months. He is included in the final nine players and the winner stands to win $8.25 million.

Another noted poker player who has his roots in online poker is Chris Moneymaker. Chris started from playing $39 online games and ended up winning $2.5 million in the 2003 WSP, installing him as the face of Internet poker.

Playing in the WSOP may be more exciting and impressive, but to these young poker players, there is more money to be made in online poker games. These college students, who are intent on becoming independent, see poker as a way of earning real money without having to deal with a 9-to-5 schedule or a boss. Brian Townsend, who stopped his PhD after becoming successful in online poker, must be their role model.
