Man Beats Computer!
July 26, 2007 on 12:35 am | In Poker News |Well score one for the humans today! Poker players Phil Laak and Ali Eslami both beat the computer challenger. It was not an easy battle as both of them came out only $570 ahead. It was a tight match and many watching thought the computer did an excellent job making it seem that we aren’t far away from a computer that will be able to beat pro’s.
The computer named “Polaris” has been in the works since 1991 at the University of Alberta by their computer science department. Polaris has a compelling poker record as he won the Second World Computer Poker Championship against 18 other computers.
Well hopefully there will be a rematch as it currently stands who knows what one more year of tinkering will do….
