Confirmed Loss for US in WTO Panel
January 26, 2007 on 2:21 am | In Poker News |It looks like a WTO Panel has ruled that the US has not complied with the WTO ruling that they have illegally shut out foreign betting operators. In April 2005, Antigua and Barbuda had won a case against the US that they were unfairly being shut out of the market and the decision of the WTO was that the US needed to change the current situation. The US has yet to budge on its stance and Antigua and Barbuda have since complained to the World Trade Organization that the US has not followed through with the ruling. It looks like the final decision from the WTO panel is that the US has not taken the necessary steps and the US has till march to file an appeal. This is good news for online gambling and hopefully will push the US to back down with the current DOJ attack on foreign banks and someday legalize online gambling! Check out the reuters article.
