Brett Parisse wins APPT tournament
September 3, 2007 on 3:06 pm | In Poker News |A young California student, 22 year old Brett Parise overcome 254 other poker players to reign supreme and topped the recent Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) event held at the Manila Hyatt Hotel and Casino in Manila, Philippines. With the win Parise earned himself a seat at the prestigious grand final event to be held in Sydney, Australia on December 13, 2007.
Parise earned a trip to this event by qualifying for the APPT tournament by winning a free online tournament at PokerStar.net, gaining tournament entry, trip and accommodation as well. A political science student and a fan of online poker he now can pride himself as being the first APPT winner.
The Manila leg of the APPT tournament started off with 255 poker players coming all over from 30 different nations, all of them creating a total pool prize of over $600,000. Participants included some of the finest poker players in the world namely; numerous WSOP bracket winner Danniel Negreany, Vanessa Rousso and 2005 world champion Joe Hachem.
The final two players who fought for the title were Brett Parise and US lawyer who are now based in Thailand, Ira Blumenthal.
After the Manila leg the APPT will then travel to South Korea for another poker tournament to kick off on September 27 at the Sheraton Hill Hotel and Casino in Seoul, South Korea.
