PokerTek to Supply Harrah’s Casinos Poker Tables

April 20, 2007 on 7:50 pm | In Live Poker, Poker News |

At Bizjournal they report that PokerTek and Harrah’s have just inked a multi-year deal that will make PokerTek the exclusive provider of automated poker tables. The poker tables will be installed in every casino owned by Harrah’s which spans 6 countries and 13 states. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The automated poker tables deals players cards electronically and displays them on a private screens and also has a large screen in the center of the poker table that displays the majority of the information. The automated tables will also keep statistics and keep tracking of betting. Is this the new wave of poker tables? Will dealers become a thing of the past? I wonder how automated the process can get without having the game’s essence lost… I would like to see something like this in person because it sounds like Harrah’s will be pushing these and it will be interesting to see if other casinos will follow.
