Court Battle: Poker a game of luck?
January 11, 2007 on 1:23 am | In Live Poker, Poker News |Reported by the BBC it looks like a jury in england will decide if poker is a game of luck or a game of skill. This stems from a legal argument of club owner Derek Kelly who is being charged with running an unlicensed poker game at his private members club. His argument is that poker is a game of skill and that he does not need a license to run a private poker game and therefore he thinks the charges should be dropped. This is a constant battle as many states in the US have different interpretations of whether poker is a game of skill or luck. It is an age old question that will constantly be argued over as there are elements of both. We will see what the courts in england will decide and if this will have an impact on the current or future poker rooms in england.
