Beginner Tips
Simple poker tips that will help you play online texas hold-em. These tips are basic but will help you
1.Be familiar with hand odds and pot odds. These are simple to learn and will increase your poker knowledge and skill.
2. If the other player is betting hard and has been playing tight the whole tournament he probably has you beat unless you have the nuts.
3. Know your table image and the table images of the players that are around you. This should factor in your decision making when playing hands. If they think you are a calling machine use that to your advantage.
4. If you think you have a read on a player leave a note on the player (most poker rooms have this option if you click a players name) because most likely you will see that player again and you will have that extra advantage that other players won't have at the table.
5. If you are playing and keep getting beat don't let this affect your game. If you become a different player and are calling hands that you normally wouldn't to try to catch up and make your money back this will most likely not work and you are playing on tilt. Leave the table or take a break from poker. Don't play poker when you are not likely to play your best.
6. When you are playing poker don't play over a limit that you are not comfortable loosing the average stack at the table. It is a big indication if you come in with a smaller stack then everyone sitting at the table. This makes you a target as players aren't afraid of a player that is short stacked as they can't take them out without having to play multiple hands.
7. Don't play bad cards(27, 37, 510) or mediocre hands (K8, A6, Q10) unless you are in a great position in a tournament.
8. Know the rules of texas hold-em. This may be a very obvious tip but you would be surprised that many players don't know what they are doing or have learned something that is wrong.
