Overview 

Absolute Poker is a standard sized poker room with a lot of star firepower behind it.  Utilizing proprietary software, they are able to deliver a slightly different poker playing experience than other sites.  Among the poker stars that play at Absolute Poker are Mark Seif, Michael Mizrachi, and Sean McCabe. 

Traffic

Ring games have decent traffic, but nothing considerably attractive.  You can find a game, but it might take some waiting for a desired limit to open up or gather enough to play.  Generally, you can find about 1,500 people playing real money ring games at any given time, with peak times of up to 2,250. 

Tournaments

Absolute Poker has a fair amount of tournament traffic, especially in their free rolls.  As far as cash tournaments, they average about 4,000 – 5,000 consistently active players.  In regards to large tournaments, Absolute Poker hosts a 100k tournament every 2 weeks.   Along with this, they have a relatively active tournament schedule, with several non hold’em tournaments daily.  They’re 7 card stud tournaments attract a fair number of players and they are known for some very active Omaha tournaments. 

Software

Absolute Poker has custom designed and developed software with a lot of unique features.  Graphically speaking, it is not very appealing, but it serves its purpose and function very well as an online poker room.  The software itself is quick and robust, delivering a quality experience with few server issues or inconsistent behavior.   

The graphics are somewhat stale, but players do the have option to upload custom avatars to enhance their viewing experience.  What it lacks in eye candy, it does make up for in play, with some of the fastest and most active tables available on the internet.  The statistical information tracked is sufficient, but positional information could be better.   

They recently added the blackjack feature at the tables and it is an eyesore and temptation if you are not one for actual gambling.  It can not be removed from any known option menu. 

The software is somewhat resource heavy, with it bringing my slowest system to a crawl with more than 3 tables open.  Also, the time for players to act is excessive, leading to some terribly slow games at times. 

Competition

The competition at Absolute Poker.net varies, with some players being well below average while others are definitely far ahead of the game.  All in all however, the typical player at Absolut Poker is slightly below average and many loose games and profitable tables can be found at this site during peak hours.  Just watch the tables you plan to sit at before playing and make certain you can figure out everyone’s playing style.  The tournaments and sit-n-goes tend to be softer and easier to beat/money in than the cash games. 
 

Security

Absolute Poker is regulated by the online gaming commission body known as The Six Nations Internet Gambling Regulatory Body.   

All player account monies are held in separate, segregated accounts within the Royal Bank of Scotland.   

AbsolutePoker utilizes 256 bit encryption routines to entirely safeguard your data and privacy.  They also use SSLv3 technology and algorithms provided through Thawte Security. 

Their random number generator has been certified to be random and just by several independent firms, including Technical Systems Testing, a premier statistical analysis firm.

Support at Absolute Poker is provided by e-mail only.  While they do answer questions and concerns quickly and correctly, it is still a down right shame for them to lack telephone support.  It is even more shocking that they don’t offer an online chat support or service.  The FAQ section of their website is only slightly adequate in solving some issues.

Overall, Absolute Poker is a very nice site to play on.  It could use some graphical improvements, but if you’re goal is to play poker and not be bothered by eye candy; then Absolut Poker is definitely the place for you.  Regardless of the graphics, it features a strong server and connection back-end, massive and exciting tournaments, and loads of freerolls and promotions.  Absolute Poker is definitely a place to check out or to continue to play at.
